Adding Up Vitamins: Gelagen Plus a Multivitamin
Gelagen overlaps with most multivitamins on vitamin A, zinc, iodine, folate and B12. Taking both adds the amounts. Add each nutrient across every label, then compare the total with the NIH upper limit, not with the Daily Value. Vitamin A and zinc are the two to watch.

Why do totals matter?
Each product can look modest alone, and the sum can be large. NIH sets upper limits for adults so that total intake from food and supplements stays safe (NIH ODS, Multivitamin/mineral). The Daily Value is a label reference, not a limit.
How do you add them?
Make a table with one row per nutrient and a column per product. Write the amount, add across, and compare. For vitamin A, use retinol amounts only, since beta-carotene counts differently. For folate, note that the limit applies to folic acid from supplements.
What is a worked example?
If a multivitamin has 900 mcg of vitamin A and Gelagen adds 630, the total is 1,530 mcg against an adult limit of 3,000 mcg (NIH ODS, Vitamin A). That is half the limit, fine for most adults and not for pregnancy. For zinc, 11 mg plus 2.7 mg is 13.7 against a limit of 40 (NIH ODS, Zinc).

FAQ01
Gelagen questions people ask
Is it safe to take Gelagen and a multivitamin together?
For many healthy adults the totals are under the upper limits. Add them up first, and ask a pharmacist if you are pregnant or on medicine.
Which vitamin is most likely to add up too high?
Vitamin A in pregnancy, and zinc over a long time. Check both.
Do I need a multivitamin with Gelagen?
That is a question about your diet and your clinician's view. The list is not a replacement for one.
Where do I find the upper limits?
NIH fact sheets list the adult upper limit for each vitamin and mineral. Our safety checklist links the ones that matter for this list.
