Gelagen Supplement Facts and Label Math: Every %DV Worked Out
Gelagen's supplement facts name 13 nutrients with amounts, but the product sheet prints no serving size and no percent Daily Value. We worked each one out from FDA's Daily Values. If the amounts are per two gummies, biotin is 16,667%, vitamin B12 is 250% and choline is under 0.01%. If they are per gummy, every figure doubles.

The gap01
What do the Gelagen supplement facts say?
They say that Gelagen contains 13 named nutrients in set amounts, and they say nothing about the size of a serving.
A real Supplement Facts panel states a serving size, the number of servings per container, the amount of each nutrient in one serving and the percent of the Daily Value. FDA requires all of that on the panel (FDA, Structure/Function Claims). What we were given is a list of names and amounts, plus the directions: take two gummies daily. The jar holds 60, which is 30 days at two a day.
Without a stated serving, the amounts could mean two readings. Reading A treats the amounts as the total for the two gummies you take each day. Reading B treats them as the amount in each single gummy, so a day's two gummies would give double. We do not know which is right, so every table on this site carries both. The jar you receive will settle it in one glance.
Worked out02
What is the percent Daily Value of each nutrient in Gelagen?
Under reading A, biotin is 16,667% of the Daily Value, vitamin B12 is 250%, vitamin B6 is about 118%, folate is 110.5%, and every other listed nutrient with a Daily Value is at or below 104%.
Each percentage is the listed amount divided by FDA's adult Daily Value (FDA, Daily Value). For example, vitamin D is 10 mcg against a Daily Value of 20 mcg, which is 50%, and zinc is 2.7 mg against 11 mg, which is 24.5%.
| Name in the product sheet | Amount | FDA Daily Value | %DV if the amount is per 2 gummies | %DV if per gummy (2 gummies = double) | Adult upper limit (NIH ODS) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vitamin A (as retinyl acetate) | 630 mcg | 900 mcg RAE | 70.0% | 140.0% | 3,000 mcg RAE a day (preformed vitamin A, adults) (NIH ODS, Vitamin A) |

| Vitamin B6 (as pyridoxine HCl) | 2 mg | 1.7 mg | 117.6% | 235.3% | 100 mg a day (adults) (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6) |
| Folate | 442 mcg DFE | 400 mcg DFE | 110.5% | 221.0% | 1,000 mcg a day of folic acid from supplements and fortified foods (NIH ODS, Folate) |
| Vitamin B12 (as methylcobalamin) | 6 mcg | 2.4 mcg | 250.0% | 500.0% | No upper limit set (NIH ODS) (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12) |
| Biotin | 5,000 mcg | 30 mcg | 16,667% | 33,333% | No upper limit set (NIH ODS); the issue is lab-test interference (NIH ODS, Biotin) |
| Pantothenic acid | 5.2 mg | 5 mg | 104.0% | 208.0% | No upper limit set (NIH ODS) (NIH ODS, Pantothenic Acid) |
| Choline | 0.04 mg | 550 mg | less than 0.01% | 0.0% | 3,500 mg a day (adults) (NIH ODS, Choline) |
| Iodine | 42 mcg | 150 mcg | 28.0% | 56.0% | 1,100 mcg a day (adults) (NIH ODS, Iodine) |

| Inositol | 40 mcg | none set | no DV | no DV | No upper limit found in our sources (Cleveland Clinic, Inositol) |
Drawn to scale03
How big is each amount compared with a Daily Value?
Drawn against one Daily Value, only biotin runs off the chart, and choline is too small to see.
The bars stop at 250% so you can see the other nutrients. Biotin's bar is cut off because at true scale every other bar would shrink to a pixel. A percentage above 100 is not a danger in itself: the Daily Value is a reference for labels, not a ceiling. The ceiling is the upper limit, and that is the next question.

Does any Gelagen nutrient go above an upper limit?
No listed nutrient is above its adult upper limit under either reading, and biotin has no upper limit set at all.
The upper limit is the most a healthy adult can take daily from supplements and fortified food without a known risk of harm. NIH sets one for most nutrients. The table shows the number for each, with where the reading B amount would stand.
| Nutrient | Amount | Adult upper limit | Per 2 gummies, reading A | Doubled, reading B |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vitamin A (retinyl acetate) | 630 mcg | 3,000 mcg RAE (NIH ODS, Vitamin A) | 21% of limit | 42% of limit |
| Vitamin C | 20 mg | 2,000 mg (NIH ODS, Vitamin C) | 1% | 2% |
| Vitamin D | 10 mcg | 100 mcg (NIH ODS, Vitamin D) | 10% | 20% |
| Vitamin E | 7.4 mg | 1,000 mg (NIH ODS, Vitamin E) | under 1% | 1.5% |
| Vitamin B6 | 2 mg | 100 mg (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6) | 2% | 4% |
| Zinc | 2.7 mg | 40 mg (NIH ODS, Zinc) | 7% | 14% |
| Iodine | 42 mcg | 1,100 mcg (NIH ODS, Iodine) | 4% | 8% |
Those limits apply to everything you take. If you also take a multivitamin or a prenatal, the totals add. NIH notes that people who combine a multivitamin with other supplements can exceed limits for vitamin A and zinc (NIH ODS, Multivitamin/mineral). The safety checklist shows how to add them up.
Units05
Why are vitamin A, E and folate written the way they are?
Modern labels write vitamin A in mcg RAE, vitamin E in mg alpha-tocopherol and folate in mcg DFE, and the product sheet's units do not always say which.
We read vitamin A as mcg RAE and vitamin E as mg alpha-tocopherol because those are the units FDA's Daily Values use (FDA, Daily Value). If the jar prints a different unit, the percentages here shift. The same goes for choline: 0.04 mg is the figure in the product sheet, and it is 0.007% of a 550 mg Daily Value, so small that it is probably either a typo or a trace added for the name alone. It is worth a look on the jar.
When the printed label differs from our figures, the printed label wins. Tell us at [email protected] and we will correct the page. To check a jar against an order, use the batch verify page.
The one amount that needs care is biotin. High-dose biotin can distort some lab results, so tell the clinician and the lab before any blood draw.
FAQ06
Gelagen questions people ask
What is the serving size of Gelagen?
It is not printed in the product sheet. The directions give two gummies daily, and the jar holds 60. We treat two gummies as the daily serving for the main readings and also show a per-gummy reading, because the label would normally state the basis.
How many servings are in a Gelagen jar?
Not stated, but at two gummies a day a 60-gummy jar lasts about 30 days, so the jar is about 30 daily servings. If the label defines a serving as one gummy, the same jar would be 60 servings, so check the jar.
What is the percent Daily Value of biotin in Gelagen?
Under reading A, 5,000 mcg is 16,667% of the 30 mcg Daily Value, about 167 times. Under reading B, with two gummies each holding 5,000 mcg, it would be 333 times. Neither number means the biotin is unsafe, but both matter for lab tests.
Why does Gelagen show no percent Daily Value?
The product sheet we were given does not print one. Real labels must show percent Daily Value for nutrients that have one. We computed it ourselves from FDA's reference amounts and marked every figure as computed, so you can see how it was made.
Is 5.2 mg of pantothenic acid a lot?
It is 104% of the 5 mg Daily Value, about one day's reference amount. NIH sets no upper limit for pantothenic acid, and very large doses of about 10 grams a day caused diarrhea, which is nearly two thousand times more (NIH ODS, Pantothenic Acid).
Where do the Daily Values come from?
From FDA's Daily Value table for adults and children four and older, which is the basis for every percent on a modern supplement label (FDA, Daily Value). Daily Values differ from the older RDAs that sex and age tables use, so a doctor's target may differ from the label.
