What is inositol?
A sugar-like compound that the body makes and that occurs in fruit, beans, grains and nuts. It is sometimes called vitamin B8, though it is not a true vitamin because the body makes it. Cells use it for signaling (Cleveland Clinic, Inositol).
What does the research use?
Trials of inositol, for example in polycystic ovary syndrome or mood, use two to twelve grams a day (Cleveland Clinic, Inositol). A gram is a million micrograms, so 40 mcg is 25,000 times less than a single gram. Results from those trials do not transfer to this gummy.
Why list it then?
