Pantothenic Acid in Gelagen: Vitamin B5 Explained
Gelagen lists pantothenic acid, also called vitamin B5, at 5.2 mg. If that is per two gummies it is about 104 percent of the 5 mg Daily Value. B5 helps the body turn food into energy, deficiency is very rare and no upper limit is set. Skin claims for it rest on thin evidence.

What does B5 do?
It is part of coenzyme A, which the body uses to release energy from fats, carbohydrates and proteins and to make hormones and cholesterol (NIH ODS, Pantothenic Acid). The name comes from a Greek word meaning everywhere, since it is in almost every food.
How much do we need?
The Daily Value is 5 mg and the adequate intake for adults is the same. Most people meet it from meat, eggs, mushrooms, avocado and whole grains. Deficiency is seen mainly in severe malnutrition, so a supplement is rarely needed.
What about skin and hair?
B5 appears in many skin and hair products and in marketing for them. The NIH sheet does not list skin as a proven benefit. Small studies of high doses for acne exist but are not enough to rely on, and we make no such claim for Gelagen (AAD, Supplements for your skin).

See packsIs there any caution?
No upper limit is set, though very high doses can cause diarrhea. Gelagen's amount is not near that. B5 can also affect certain biotin tests, since the two share absorption routes in the gut, a point researchers have raised. Since the amount is modest and the nutrient is common in food, this is a detail to note rather than a worry. Read the B vitamins page.

Small studies exist, but the evidence is not strong enough for a claim, and we make none.

Most people do, since it is found in nearly every food.
