Skin Rash After a Supplement: What to Do Now
If a rash appears after you start a supplement such as Gelagen, stop taking it and tell a clinician. Hives with swelling of the face, lips or throat, wheezing or trouble breathing is an emergency: call 911. A mild rash still deserves a call, because the cause may be an allergy to an ingredient, including unlisted ones.

What should you do first?
Stop the product. Take a photo of the rash, note the date it started and what you took and ate. Keep the jar and the lot code. If it is mild and not spreading, call a clinician or pharmacist the same day. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
What are emergency signs?
Swelling of the lips, tongue, face or throat, trouble breathing, wheezing, a fast pulse, dizziness or fainting. Call 911 at once. These signs point to a severe allergic reaction.
What can cause it?
An allergy to a dye, flavor, gelling agent or vitamin; a reaction to a medicine; or an unrelated cause such as a new soap. Gelagen's other ingredients are not listed in our material, so we cannot say what is in them. Biotin in high doses has also been reported with rashes in some people.

See packsHow do you report it?
Report to FDA through MedWatch (FDA, MedWatch), and contact the order desk. Do not restart until a clinician says so. The side effects page lists warning signs, and the who it is for page lists groups that should ask first. Write the timeline down while it is fresh: what you took, when the rash began and how it changed, since a clinician will ask for exactly that.
