Skin Supplements in the USA: Rules, Labels and Claims
In the USA, dietary supplements are not approved by FDA before sale. Makers must follow label rules, make truthful claims and not claim to treat disease. FDA acts after a product is on the market, and the FTC polices advertising. That explains why every skin gummy, Gelagen included, carries a line saying FDA has not evaluated its claims.

What do the rules require?
A Supplement Facts panel, a list of ingredients, a name and place of business, and truthful claims (FDA, Structure/Function Claims). Structure and function claims, like supports skin health, are allowed with a disclaimer. Claims to treat or prevent disease are not allowed.
What does FDA do?
It can act against unsafe or mislabeled products, issue warnings and take reports through MedWatch (FDA, Dietary Supplements). It does not approve supplements first. Facility registration is a listing, not an approval.
What does the FTC do?
It polices advertising, including testimonials, endorsements and results claims, and can act against false claims (FTC, Health Products Compliance Guidance). Fake reviews are deceptive under its rule (FTC, Fake Reviews Final Rule (2024)).

Our disclaimer page repeats the FDA statement, and the testing and quality page shows what to ask Gelagen's seller. Keep any reply, because a written answer is worth more than a phone memory if you ever need to make a claim.
