Zinc in Gelagen: What 2.7 mg Means
Gelagen lists zinc at 2.7 mg, about 25 percent of the 11 mg Daily Value if the amount is per two gummies. Zinc supports wound healing and immune function. The care points are antibiotics, which zinc can bind to, and long-term totals above the 40 mg adult upper limit from all products.

What does zinc do?
It is part of many enzymes, supports the immune system and helps wounds heal and skin stay intact (NIH ODS, Zinc). Deficiency can cause slow healing, rashes and hair loss, but it is uncommon in the United States. Meat, shellfish, beans and nuts are good sources.
How much is 2.7 mg?
A quarter of the Daily Value, or about the zinc in a small portion of beef. It is a low supplement dose. The adult upper limit of 40 mg is more than fourteen times higher, so Gelagen alone is far below it.
What about acne and skin?
Zinc is often discussed for acne. The American Academy of Dermatology says evidence for supplements is limited and not a standard treatment (AAD, Supplements for your skin). A 2.7 mg dose is not the amount used in those studies, and we make no acne claim.

See packsWhat is the antibiotic caution?
Zinc can bind some antibiotics, such as tetracyclines and quinolones, and reduce their absorption (NIH ODS, Zinc). Space them by a few hours, and ask your pharmacist how far. Long-term high zinc can also lower copper. Spacing is the simple fix, and a pharmacist can set a schedule that fits your day in a minute or two. The zinc and iodine page has details.
